Connection mode of electric vehicle charging cable

Publish Date 2022-08-08
There are the following 4 charging connection modes for electric vehicle charging cables:

Charging mode 1: It is a combination of single-head charging gun + cable + ordinary CEE plug connected to single-phase mains

Charging mode 2: It is a combination of single-head charging gun + cable + control box + plug connected to single-phase mains

Charging mode 3: a combination of single-head charging gun + cable + control box + plug connected to single-phase mains

Charging mode 4: a combination of charging gun + cable + charging pile connected to direct current (DC)

The difference is: the difference between charging mode 2 and charging mode 1 is to increase the number of controllers. Compared with charging mode 1, charging mode 2 has complete protection measures, including over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current, over-temperature, leakage and power-off protection. There are no protective measures. Three-phase charging mode For the first two modes, mode three increases the charging current to increase the charging speed, and the demand for charging safety will also be higher. The fourth charging mode is a DC charging gun.

Of course, there are three connection methods:
The charging cable is connected to the electric vehicle end, and is pluggable to the power grid connection end;
The charging cable is connected to the power grid connection end, and is pluggable when connected to the electric vehicle end;
The charging cable is pluggable to both the electric vehicle end and the grid connection end.

When it comes to charging cables, OMG seeks to provide a range of charging cables, adapters and charging infrastructure. In the future, OMG will work hard to develop various adapters and charging infrastructure. Omega takes "green innovation for the benefit of mankind" as its corporate mission. Since 2009, Omega has invested a lot of resources to independently develop conductive products for new energy electric vehicles.

There are two main types of charging for electric vehicles, which are used to connect to public charging networks. These are Type 1 or Type 2 connectors. All EV charging cables connect to standard Type 2 charging sockets or public charging ports, which can be found at public charging stations such as petrol stations, supermarkets or car parks. There are four charging modes above.
